Support SSME while receiving 90% of your contribution as a tax credit through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Now is the best time to act!
What is EITC?
The Pennsylvania State Department of Community and Economic Development's (DCED) Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program allows eligible businesses to donate to a registered and approved 501(c)(3) Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) of their choice. The state then provides a tax credit of the donated amount.
- A one-year commitment to SSME earns your business a tax credit equal to 75% of your contribution.
- A two-year commitment earns you a tax credit of 90% for two consecutive tax years.
Why Now is the Best Time to Apply
Applications for tax credits for program fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019) are now being accepted!
Each year the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania budgets a certain amount of funds for the EITC program. Because of the popularity of the program, businesses are encouraged to apply for the credit as early as possible. Applications are processed until the amount of available tax credits is exhausted.
How to Apply
The application process for EITC tax credits is extremely efficient. Interested businesses can apply through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) electronic single application system.
After the DCED reviews the application and confirms there is money available in the program, you will receive an approval letter. Although your contribution must be made within 60 days of receiving approval, it is a good idea to make your contribution as soon as possible, because tax credits are awarded a first-come, first-served basis.
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will provide substantiation of your donation upon receipt of your contribution to SSME.
