Clubs/Honor Societies/Organizations

The History Club sponsors on- and off-campus programming. Past events have included historical movie nights, a visit to Bushy Run Battlefield, and a medieval trebuchet demonstration. Ask any of your History faculty for contact details of the current student leadership.

Graduate Studies

Potential graduate program paths include: Master’s and PhD degrees in public history, US History and other types of history. Some of our graduates have earned MA degrees in TESOL.

Study Abroad

History & Identity of Spain (1 credit): is a course that takes students to Spain over spring break and explores what it means to be a "Spaniard" in different regions of Spain in various aspects.

Cuba & the Castros (3 credits): A three credit course that has a study abroad component over spring break where students travel to Habana, Cuba and take a week-long course at the University of Habana that includes excursions to other regions of Cuba. The course explores the history, politics, culture, and economics of Cuba since the 1959 Cuban Revolution to the present changes occurring in Cuba today.

New! The History of the US- Mexico Border (1-3 credits): This is a one-week course in which students travel to El Paso, TX over spring break to explore the history, economics, culture, politics, and present-day situation on the border. The course is taught in conjunction with HIST1525: History of Mexico.
