Special Information

A note to all Chemistry majors: Please be aware that many upper-level chemistry courses are offered on rotation. This means that they may only be offered during either even- or odd-numbered years due to faculty availability and student interest. For example, CHEM 1035 (Environmental Chemistry) has been offered in Spring 2019 and Spring 2021, but not during Spring 2020 nor Spring 2022.

  • CHEM 1130 (Inorganic Chemistry)

  • CHEM 1250 (Instrumental Analysis)

  • CHEM 1255 (Instrumental Analysis Laboratory)

  • CHEM 1311 (Advanced Organic Chemistry)

  • CHEM 1330 (Medicinal Chemistry)

  • CHEM 1380 (Techniques of Organic Research)

  • CHEM 1410 (Physical Chemistry 1)

  • CHEM 1420 (Physical Chemistry 2)

  • CHEM 1430 (Physical Chemistry Laboratory).

Students should pay close attention in Chemistry Major’s Meetings for additional details. CHEM 0250 & 0260 (Analytical Chemistry & Laboratory) will be offered every Fall Term, while CHEM 1702 (Undergraduate Research Writing) will be offered every Spring Term. Be sure to check with the chemistry faculty as well as the Registrar's Office regarding pre- and co-requisites for all the aforementioned courses.

SLICE Scholarship Program

Pitt-Greensburg has been awarded a grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to increase the retention and graduation rates of students in the natural sciences. Through the STEM Learning Interdisciplinary Community Expansion (SLICE) program, scholarships of up to $10,000 per year for a period of up to four years are available to eligible academically talented students.
