Jordan Boothe, Ph.D., received his Doctorate in Organic Chemistry and his Master’s in Post-Secondary Science Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He teaches Chemistry for the Health Professions (Nursing Chemistry), Biochemistry, Scientific Writing, Capstone, Medicinal Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, as well as other assorted chemistry and biology courses. As a community college transfer student himself, he is very interested in assisting transfer students in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry – please contact him if you have questions about the transfer process for any of these majors.
Dr. Boothe maintains active involvement and membership in a number of on- and off-campus organizations geared toward student development in the sciences, including the American Chemical Society’s divisions of chemical education and organic chemistry and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh. He currently serves as the lead faculty advisor of Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society’s Rho Theta Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Dr. Boothe’s research interests are multifaceted, and include: the synthesis of organic small molecule libraries, chemical biology & biochemistry assays of microalgae, the analysis of student learning gains in the physical & biological sciences, and instructional scaffolding provided by instructors of these courses.
