Tutoring

Starting in Fall 2024, Pitt Greensburg students interested in peer or professional tutoring will need to make their own appointments via Pathways, the same platform you use to make Advising appointments.

We have tutoring for a variety of subjects, but not all subjects. As the semester goes on, we will try to hire additional peer tutors.

How do I make an appointment with a peer or professional tutor?

  • Go to Pathways Navigate from Pitt Mobile or my.pitt.edu/launch-task/all/pathways-navstudent
  • Find the tutoring program you have access to (Greensburg)
  • Find a tutor and look at your schedules to find a time that you are both available.
  • Once you book a session, you will receive an email confirmation with appointment details or your tutor’s personal classroom link.
  • Be on time for your in-person appointment, or click on the classroom link that was sent in your appointment confirmation email for your virtual appointment.

Drop-In Composition

Drop-in is back!

Starting January 22, trained peer tutors will sit at the table just inside the door of the Learning Center, Millstein 250, to review papers you have written for any course.

No appointments are needed. Drop-in is a conversation, not a drop-off site. Please bring a paper copy of your paper. Please bring the assignment sheet if you have one.

We will let your professor know you were here!

Please see below for our days and times, and please stay tuned for additional days and times coming soon!

A tentative drop-in schedule is in progress. A finalized version will soon appear on the doorway of the Learning Center.

Online Writing Center (OWC)

The Learning Center offers online feedback from Mr. Hitt, our professional composition tutor. To use the OWC, you must have a Gmail account.

Submit your essay to the OWC

All sections of the above form must be completed before you may submit your essay, and as noted on the form, any vague responses may prevent you from receiving feedback. The average turnaround time for papers is 48-72 hours; however, excessive submissions may push that back. If it will take longer for us to get your paper back to you, you will receive an email with an updated timeframe.

Strategic Study Halls (new!)

Certain peer tutors will offer strategic study halls.

This is a chance for students to

  1. Receive a subject-specific study strategy
  2. Meet a peer tutor
  3. Spend time working on homework

See below for our current schedule. More may be added.

To see if there is a study hall for a particular subject, please email Dr. Sears or check the doorway of the Learning Center

Please check back: More study halls may be coming soon!
