Kristen is a Pitt graduate and even attended the Greensburg campus for two years, before completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh, in Oakland. Kristen majored in Psychology, with a minor in Administration of Justice, and a certificate in Women's Studies. She obtained her master's degree at Carlow University in Professional Counseling, with a School Counseling certification. Kristen has worked in various roles in non-profits, county government, and education for over 15 years in the Pittsburgh and DC metro area. Her path in life eventually led her back to the campus as an employee in 2014. Kristen provides guidance, preparation and planning around the internship process to aid students in gaining pre-professional experience. She works with students, alum, faculty, staff and employers during this process to ensure that the awareness and importance of experiential learning is present while completing their degree, and assists in developing, searching and connecting them to opportunities. Kristen is involved in all aspects of the Career Services Department including resume/cover letter reviews, interviewing, career/major exploration, event planning, networking and graduate school planning, but the majority of her focus is managing the internship process. She holds certifications in administering and interpreting the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), along with a Career Development Specialist certification from the American School Counselor Association. Kristen also teaches two seminar courses: Cornerstone & College Success.
