Hard Money Student Orientation

Welcome to the New Student Worker Orientation (hard-money positions).

Congratulations! You have been hired as a new Student Worker in the hard-money program.  As a student worker, this opportunity will provide you  valuable work experience while earning a wage for school-related or other expenses.

This job is a serious obligation and your performance, attitude and conduct should reflect this commitment.  You may be the first contact that a person has with Pitt-Greensburg and the manner in which the person is received leaves a lasting impression.  Represent your office well.

This New Student Worker Orientation for hard-money positions is required and must be completed prior to your first day of employment.  There are two (2) steps of the orientation, so please be sure to complete both steps.

Step 1

The first step in your orientation is printing and completing the required payroll documents.  You will bring completed payroll forms and required documents (original social security card, photo ID and a voided check) to the Greensburg Office of Human Resources (103 Lynch Hall).

You are not permitted to begin working until all paperwork has been completed, and confirmation that the online orientation has been received in the Office of Human Resources, and your supervisor has been notified that you are eligible to begin working.

The following are the payroll forms you are required to print, complete and bring to the Office of Human Resources on or before your first day of work:

1.   Onboarding Checklist
2.   Hard Money Student Information Sheet
3.   Residency Certification Form
4.   Local Services Tax - Exemption Certificate
5.   Form W-4
6.   Post Offer Data Sheet
7.   Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
8.   Workers' Compensation Forms
9.   Drug-free Memo
10. Affirmative Action Policies
11. Jeanne Cleary Act Disclosure
12. Pay Increase Procedure
13. Authorization Agreement for Direct Deposit

Step 2

Step two of the orientation is completing the Electronic I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form (see your email from HR to obtain the employer code). Prior to your first day of work, you will need to complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 by using an electronic I-9 service.  Click on the I-9 link here: www.newi9.com to access the I-9 form. This confidential and secure service allows you to quickly and conveniently complete Section 1 of your Form I-9 online.   We recommend that you print the “Thank You” page to remind yourself to bring your required I-9 documents to the Greensburg Human Resources Office.

On or before your first day of work, you must bring to the Office of Human Resources (103 Lynch Hall) the identification documents listed in the I-9 confirmation section of the online I-9 form.  Section 2 of the I-9 form will be completed in the Human Resources Office by an authorized University representative.  If you have any issues completing your I-9 Form online prior to your first day of work, please contact the Human Resources Office at 724-836-9875.

Please note, all students are required to complete weekly timecards in Pitt Worx.  More information on Pitt Worx can be found here.

If you have questions about your student employment, please contact your supervisor, the Greensburg Human Resources Office or refer to the information found in the Student Employment Manual.
