The Power of One Purpose

The Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing has become the desired minimum academic credential for entry-level nursing, particularly at hospitals seeking Magnet status from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center.

Our program is the first and only BSN degree in Westmoreland County; it is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing - consistently ranked among the top 10 nursing schools in the country by US News and World Report.

The BSN educational program combines a strong theoretical base of biological and behavioral sciences with a foundation in the liberal arts as well approximately 900 clinical hours in a variety of local clinical settings. Through partnerships with healthcare providers such as Excela Health System and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, students will gain clinical experience in acute and long term care settings, schools, clinics, senior citizens' centers, pediatrics, and a variety of other community organizations and services. The diversity of high quality clinical settings helps prepare students to interact effectively with patients and other health care providers to provide a strong foundation for professional practice in today’s healthcare environment.

The BSN program prepares students as generalists in nursing who are ready for clinical practice as well as for continued professional development and graduate education. Graduates qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for professional nurses.

Kaplan Prep

A series of Kaplan Preparation Practice Tests are integrated throughout the Nursing program. A Diagnostic Prep, a Predictor Exam and a four-day Kaplan Review are scheduled at end of the program to provide students with prep resources to take the National Nursing License Exam.
